Although you may be tempted to try and make your way down tot he water’s edge at Crater Lake National Park you’ll find that it’s a pretty daunting journey and not allowed at all unless you make the trek down the Cleetwood Cove Trail, the only one that goes to the water.
It’s a fairly advanced trail that not everyone can hike but it’s the only place where you are legally allowed to go swimming.
Considering the lake is nearly 2000 feet deep and there is frequently snow found somewhere near the lake all the way to August you’ll likely find the swimming hole to be quite cold but if you are up for the challenge of getting there and capable of enjoying a cold dip then it’s going to make for a great story later on in life.
